Hebburn Riverside Park

Hebburn Riverside Park on Prince Consort Road is the town's window on the Tyne. Laid out on reclaimed shipyard land, it has a riverside walk and a jetty that gives wide views up and down the river, a reminder of the working waterway this once was. It is an easy, flat walk with plenty of space, and a good spot to watch the river traffic or simply take in the air.

Carr-Ellison Park and Hebburn Hall Ponds

Carr-Ellison Park on Park Road is Hebburn's principal park and its most historic green space, laid out in the former gardens of Hebburn Hall and given to the town in 1920. Mature trees, gardens, the war memorial and the historic Hebburn Hall Ponds make it a pleasant, characterful place for a circular stroll, and it is well used by dog walkers and families alike. It is the closest thing the town has to a traditional Victorian park.

The Keelman's Way

For something longer, the Keelman's Way runs through Hebburn as a largely traffic-free route along the south bank of the Tyne. It links the town with Gateshead in one direction and Jarrow and South Shields in the other, so you can set your own distance, from a short there-and-back to a proper day's walk or ride. Because it follows the river it is flat and easy going, and it connects several of the riverside green spaces along the way.
