About Jarrovians RUFC
Jarrovians RUFC was founded in 1978 by players from the old Hebburn Technical College and has been part of South Tyneside rugby ever since. The club grew to three senior teams and a colts side by the early 1990s, went through leaner years and a deliberate break from league rugby in the mid-2000s to rebuild around younger players, and returned to the Durham and Northumberland leagues in 2011. It plays out of the Luke's Lane sports pavilion in Hebburn, its first permanent clubhouse, and holds RFU accreditation and Clubmark status.
Senior training is on Thursday evenings with matches on Saturday afternoons, while the junior section runs on Sunday mornings with age groups from under-6s up to under-17s. The club has a strong reputation as a welcoming place for players new to the game as well as returning ones, and its clubhouse doubles as a social base for members. It has also hosted community events at Luke's Lane in recent years, including a free family fireworks night, so it is worth following the club's Facebook page for what is on.
