New Italian Lounge-Restaurant Piano to Open on Blackett Street

A new Italian lounge and restaurant is on its way to Hebburn town centre. Piano is taking over the former Dougie's Tavern on Blackett Street and is being fitted out as an Italian dining spot, with the team behind it now recruiting staff ahead of opening.

What is coming to Blackett Street

Piano will bring an Italian lounge-restaurant to a site that Hebburn people know well, on Blackett Street towards the northern, riverside side of the town. The venue's social media describes it as "coming soon", and while an official opening date has not yet been confirmed, preparations are clearly under way. It is a notable change of use for the premises, moving from a traditional community pub to a more food-led Italian offer, and adds to the choice of places to eat close to the town centre.

Jobs on offer

Ahead of opening, Piano is hiring. The roles advertised so far include front-of-house staff, a bartender and a kitchen steward.
